Compare PS4 500GB and 1TB refurbished models to decide which hard drive size fits your gaming habits and budget.
Quick answer
Choose the 1TB PS4 if you play many large games or subscribe to PS Plus; the 500GB model is a solid budget pick for casual players who rotate a few titles.
Why storage size matters for a PS4
Games today can easily exceed 50GB each. A 500GB drive gives you room for roughly 8-10 average-sized titles, while a 1TB drive doubles that capacity. If you prefer to keep your entire library installed, the extra space saves you from constant deleting and re-downloading.
Both models use the same AMD Jaguar 8-core CPU and support up to 1080p resolution via HDMI. The only difference is the hard drive size, so your gaming performance stays identical regardless of which you pick.
Price vs value: what you get for the difference
The 1TB Jet Black Refurbished B costs $87.59, while the 500GB Jet Black Refurbished B is $63.99. That $23.60 premium buys you double the storage. For most players, that's a worthwhile upgrade, especially since external drives can add cost and clutter.
If you are on a strict budget, the 500GB model still delivers the same core experience. You can always upgrade the internal drive later or attach an external USB drive, though that adds expense.
